 | | SATURDAYS ARE ALL RIGHT FOR SOCCER - Kilgore's Will Estel (above, right) and Sara Stewart (below, 10) helped both KHS teams to wins over Eustace High School on the soccer field Saturday afternoon. Both teams are in action tonight against Chapel Hill - the girls are at home, the boys on the road. |

There was plenty of sunshine - rare for high school soccer around here - and plenty of scoring on Saturday at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium, as both Kilgore High School teams hosted Eustace High School's squads in a pair of makeup games from Friday night.
Coach Amanda Walzel's Lady Bulldogs defeated Eustace, 3-0, in their District 17- 4A game, and coach Kris Duplissey's Bulldogs also shut out EHS, 8-0. Neither junior varsity team played.
Both Kilgore teams (in fact, all four) are back in action tonight, facing Chapel Hill. The Lady Bulldogs will host CHHS at R.E. St. John, beginning with the junior varsity, tonight at 5:30, varsity to follow. And it's senior night for the Lady Bulldogs, who will be honored between the two games.
Duplissey's boys, still with a good outside shot to make the UIL Class 4A playoffs, will visit Chapel Hill tonight. Coach Joey Pippen's JV will play Chapel Hill at 5:30, followed by varsity, and those games are to be played at the University of Texas at Tyler's soccer fields.
To get into the playoffs, Kilgore must win out - tonight's game at Chapel Hill and Friday's home game against Hallsville - and have help. KHS needs Marshall to lose both of its last two games (tonight against Hallsville and Friday night against Athens) to make the postseason.
"It's not out of the question," Duplissey said.
