Gregg County provides labor assistance to City of Kilgore
By KATHRYN MARTINEZ news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Gregg County Commissioners have once again approved county labor assistance with some City of Kilgore projects.

Bob Barbee, Pct. 3 commissioner, presented the city's requests to commissioners at a regularly scheduled meeting yesterday morning. Commissioners approved assistance with paving the impound lot behind Kilgore Police Department, as well as lot clearing and pad construction at 905 1/2 State Highway 31, where a new Emergency Medical Services building is slated for construction.

The county's in-kind donation of equipment and labor is valued at approximately $20,000 for the impound lot and $6,000 for the EMS site clean up and pad construction.

City of Kilgore will furnish all materials and provide additional labor.

In other agenda business commissioners approved a resolution of support for a grant application to the Office of the Governor, criminal justice division, in the amount of $72,511, for Violence Against Women Prosecution Project. If funded this will be the 11 consecutive year the county has participated in the project.

Commissioners also accepted a monetary donation from two oil companies for use toward the prosecution of oilfield related thefts.

Commissioners decline acceptance of a warranty deed conveying property from Robert Ramsey to the county. The property in Pct. 4 is an undedicated road in need of repair. Commissioners rejected the warranty deed until the road meets Gregg County standards.

The next meeting of Gregg County Commissioners' Court is 9 a.m. Monday, March 17 at Gregg County Courthouse on the third floor in the Commissioners' Courtroom.
