Club Au Courant learns about Katherine Ann Porter

Club Au Courant met on February 20 at the home of Francis Adams, with Ellen Watson, Marcella Harkrider, and Vivian Patton serving as cohostesses.

Vice President Jan Elliott and Vivian Patton presided. The meeting was called to order and the Club Collect was repeated. Nineteen members were present and four members absent.

Refreshments were served on a beautifully appointed table set by Mrs. Adams.

The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer Kay McKinley gave her report. The membership sang Happy Birthday to Jean Robertson and Barbara Johnson. The March meeting will be March 19 and the membership will travel to Longview to view Ron Wade's Replica of the Oval Office, afterward lunch will be a Johnny Cace's.

Discussion was talked about on a new category on Moved or Resigned members and a change of policy on Life-time members. This was put on hold at this time.

Charlotte Austin presented a lovely program on Katherine Ann Porter, the award-winning author of Ship of Fools. She lived to be 90 years of age and won the Pulitzer Prize in literature.

The meeting was adjourned until the March 19th meeting.
