Harrison named to state DU position
OUTDOORS

Richard Harrison of Kilgore was elected state trustee and national delegate for Texas Ducks Unlimited. Elections were held at Texas DU's recent winter Council meeting.

"I'm really happy that Richard has accepted this position," Texas Ducks Unlimited state chairman Bill Ansell said. "With increased funding available and new conservation projects on the horizon, these are exciting times for Ducks Unlimited."

State trustees and national delegates are elected to one-year terms with a tenure limit of four consecutive terms. The trustees elect the national officers, directors, trustees emeriti and honorary trustees of DU.

Harrison will attend and participate in the annual meeting of the council of state trustees and national delegates. He will also assist in fund-raising programs in Texas by assisting the regional vice president and the district and area chairmen in the region.

Harrison was a member of the Gregg County Ducks Unlimited Committee from 1985 until 2005. He served as banquet chair for the 25 annual Gregg County Ducks Unlimited Banquet in 1994, the 30th annual Gregg County Ducks Unlimited Banquet in 1999 and the 34th annual Gregg County Ducks Unlimited Banquet in 2003. He served as both Gregg County DU publicity chair and Gregg County sponsor chair from 1995 through 2005. He has served as area chairman and faculty advisor for the Kilgore and Kilgore College DU committee since 2005.

At the state level, Harrison has served as TXDU publicity chair since 2002 and as East Texas DU district chair since 2003. He is also on the Texas DU Major Donor Committee.
