KSA opens 2008 spring season
KILGORE SOCCER ASSOCIATION ROUNDUP

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Kilgore Soccer Association (KSA) opened its spring season last weekend. This roundup comes from reports submitted by league coaches. Names are spelled here in the News Herald exactly as they are printed. Reports with no first name, or incomplete names, will be included in today's roundup, but after today, all reports should have complete names and the name of the opponent listed, or they won't appear in the roundup.

Games are played Saturdays at the sports complex on Highway 135. This roundup will normally run on Thursdays in the News Herald sports section. Coaches reports are due by 5 p.m. on Monday. You may bring them by the office at 610 East Main Street, or fax them to (903) 984-7462. You may also e-mail them to sports@kilgorenewsherald. com. Reports will not be taken over the phone.

Under-6 girls

• Grasshoppers vs. Little Divas: For the Grasshoppers, Rilee Bennett had a whopping seven goals. Camryn Jacobs had four. Lauren Bryant had two, and Kamryn Stewart had a goal. Top defenders were Caydie Aiken, Kaley Harmonson, Grace Vasquez, Jacobs and Bennett. Madi McKay was missed this week, coaches Brad and Liz Bryant said.

• Cheetahs vs. Dragonflies: Kelsea Stoner had two goals for the Cheetahs. Makinzie Pettit and Jaqueline Estrella also scored. Sunee Faulkner and Hailey Estada also played well on offense, while Niva Sanders, Sofie Barrentine and Madison Campbell were defensive standouts for coach Courtney Stoner.

Under-6 boys

• The Fury vs. the Sidewinders: Zachary, Shawn, and Izaiah all scored for the Fury, and top defenders were Cade, Cayden, Brian and Jared. The Fury is coached by Jennifer Jameson, and sponsored by M&M Contractors.

• Knights vs. Flare: Brayden Johnson, Karson Gee, Cody Darby, Alec Morris, Christian Canchola and Daniel Estrella all scored for the Knights. Defensive standouts were Grant Reeves, Bryce Long, Darby and Canchola. The Knights are sponsored by Peddler's Pizza.

Under-8 boys

• F.C. Flames vs. Mohawks: Raul Cedillo scored four goals for the Flames. Alexis Castillo scored twice, and Mason Cole also scored.

Maison Landaverde, Conner Quinlan, Jacob Rhodes and Braden Grush also played well offensively, and Tony San Juan, Christopher Chavez and Michael Raymond played good defense. Raymond was the goalie in the first half, Landaverde in the second half. The team is coached by Larry Quinlan and Dion Deshazer, and sponsored by Martin Gas. The coaches said Tristan Bradshaw and Grayson Deshazer were missed this week.

• Axiom vs. opponent unnamed: Johnny Estrella, Will Shawn and Treadrick Clayton all scored for the Axiom. Caleb Bates and Caden Nault were other offensive standouts, while Khalon Clayton, Estrella and Daniel Wood all played well on defense, as did goalie Brian Davis. The Axiom is coached by Jason and Teresa Lopez, and sponsored by Perry D. Reed and Company.

Under-10 girls

• Little Mias 4, Lady Tigers 0: For the Lady Tigers, Emily Nutt and Taylor Black were top offensive players, while Kayley Pyle and G. Lindsey were defensive standouts. Samantha Gray was the Lady Tigers' goalie. The team is coached by Brad Provance.
