KHS at Henderson tonight

The Kilgore High School Lady Bulldogs and Henderson High Lady Lions open the District 12-4A softball schedule against each other tonight in Henderson, a game that had originally been scheduled for Monday, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

The junior varsity teams will meet first at 4:30 p.m., followed by varsity around 6. Kilgore (4-8) won its last game, played Saturday evening in the Spring Hill/White Oak tournament, beating Redwater 4-3 in extra innings. KHS is coached by Cassie Newell and Rhonda Fletcher.

The Lady 'Dogs have played only once this season at home, their season opener on Feb. 11. They'll finally return home Friday night to face Marshall, also a 4:30 p.m. JV start.

BASEBALL

Diamond 'Dogs in North Lamar tourney

Kilgore High School's baseball team is back in action tomorrow in Paris in the annual North Lamar High School tournament.

Kilgore (6-4 overall this season) opens the tournament at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow against Greenville. Friday, Kilgore will again play at 1:30, this time against Paris, and at 4, the 'Dogs will face North Lamar.

This tournament is Kilgore's last before the District 12-4A schedule begins at Whitehouse on Tuesday.

Kilgore is coached by Jeff Blackstone and Ronnie Lee Garvin. Kilgore's JV baseball team, coached by Ronnie Hendrix, plays in a tournament at Pine Tree High School this weekend, beginning with a game against Longview at 10 a.m. Thursday. If Kilgore's JV loses that game, they'll play at 11 a.m. Friday. If they win, they'll play Friday at 5 p.m.

SOCCER Girls make-up game Thursday; both KHS teams home Friday

A make-up game is scheduled for R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium Friday night between Kilgore High School's girls soccer teams and Pine Tree. The games had originally been scheduled for Monday, but were postponed.

Junior varsity teams play at 5:30 p.m.; varsity will follow. Kilgore's girls are coached by Amanda Walzel and Alice Crocker.

The Lady Bulldogs will play on Friday, as well, a varsity-only game against Eustace at home that will begin at 5 p.m. The boys, coached by Kris Duplissey and Joey Pippen, will play at 7. Friday night is Kilgore Soccer Association night, and KSA players who wear their uniforms will be admitted free. There will also be KSA mini-games at the halftime of each of the varsity contests. Golf-a-thon April 7

The golf-a-thon that had been scheduled at Meadowbrook Country Club for Saturday, March 8 has been re-scheduled for Monday, April 7 due to a scheduling conflict with the course.

The golf-a-thon is to benefit the American Cancer Society. Participants will play 54 holes of best ball, with a triple bogey maximum on any hole played.

To enter, you provide a minimum donation of $500 to the American Cancer Society.

For the donation, your food and drink for the day will be provided, you'll get a Nike Dri-Fit shirt, your cart and green fees are included in that donation, and dinner and drinks at the end of the day.

Cash prizes for the low nine, the low 18, the low 36 and the low 54, based on handicap, will be given.
