PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS
Former Gregg County District Attorney Bill Jennings walloped Terry Jackson in the Republican contest for district judge yesterday.
More than 10,000 Republican voters and more than 11,000 Democrats voted in their party primaries.
Locally, John McCain bested Mike Huckabee - but not ny much - for the Republican nomination for the presidency. On the Democratic side, Barack Obama handily defeated Hillary Clinton.

Rusk County Sheriff Glen Deason will square off against Republican challenger Danny Pirtle in a run-off election.
Pirtle collected more than 2300 votes out of some 5000 votes cast in the race, handily outdistancing Deason with his 1791 votes. A third candidates, jerry Hayes, finished third with 909 votes. Because neither candidate collected more than half of the total votes, the two will meet in a run-off election next month.
