Basketball, soccer, tennis, track & field, golf, baseball, and softball - they're all ongoing, although tonight is the season finale for both Kilgore College basketball teams. No, it's not Wednesday. The week of the Region XIV Conference Tournament, they move Wednesday's games back to Tuesday. That means you can see both KC teams in action one last time this season tonight, beginning with the Lady Rangers at 5:30 p.m., and they'll be facing Lon Morris College. The Runnin' Rangers will also face LMC, right after the women's game. Both KC teams will miss this year's conference tournaments, which just happen to be right here at Masters Gymnasium this weekend. For more on the tournaments, see our sports front page today - that's page 8. PINE TREE HIGH SCHOOL'S baseball team won the Oil Belt Classic tournament this weekend - you can read more about that in sports today, too. Kilgore High School was eliminated in the second game Saturday morning. The Bulldogs (6-4) were to play tonight against Gladewater, but that game has been canceled. The Bulldogs will be back in action this week in the North Lamar High School tournament, beginning Thursday at 1:30 against Greenville. +++ LAST WEEK IN this space, I sent some people on a wild goose chase concerning the Kilgore High School Hi-Steppers Camp. Unfortunately, I had a brain spasm, or something, and thought for just a bit that the camp was last week. It's actually this Saturday, from 9 a.m. until noon for girls kindergarten-age through eighth grade, and will be held at KHS gym. The cost is $20 per camper, and the girls will have a camp snack and a T-shirt. You may register shortly before the camp begins Saturday morning. And I hope my boo-boo in last week's Kilgoround didn't mess anyone up too terribly. +++ THE KILGORE YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION'S spring season began last weekend, and for those KSA players who don't already know, you're invited as a special guest on Friday night to the Kilgore High School soccer games. Both KHS teams, varsity girls and boys, are hosting Eustace on Friday, beginning with the girls at 5 p.m., and any KSA player who wears their uniform will be admitted for free. Also, KSA players will play mini-games at the halftimes of both varsity contests. Add the KSA activities to the fact that both KHS teams need to win to make the playoffs, and you've got a fun night for everybody. +++ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY to Herbert Cashen, Mrs. Connie Waters, Tracy Waldroup Nestleroad, Jason Cooley, Ken Kettlewell, Sr., Deborah Hamilton, Florence Joiner, John Neal, Alert Madariaga III, Mrs. Walker Ogden, Dorothy Worsham, Channa Finney, Clarence Russell Hooks, Eric Anderson, Josh Forth, Joan Ferguson, Victoria Annaleigh Jamieson, Brittanie Porter, Tracy Elrod.
