Texas retail gasoline prices approach record high

HOUSTON (AP) - The average retail gasoline price in Texas is two cents shy of setting a record.

The current Texas average is $3.07 a gallon, and the all-time statewide record high is $3.09 a gallon, according to the weekly Triple-A Texas gas price survey released Friday.

Seven of the eleven Texas regions surveyed set new record highs for gas prices this week.

San Antonio gas prices rose eight cents to an average of $3.03 a gallon. It is the lowest average price but a record for San Antonio.

Texarkana once again has the state's highest average at $3.14 a gallon, which is also a record. "Record crude oil prices above $102 a barrel propelled pump prices to new highs this week," said Triple-A Texas spokesman Rose Rougeau.

These are average per-gallon prices of regular, self-serve gasoline in Texas and nationally, as well as the change from last week, according to the Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch released Friday:

Amarillo - $3.096, up 4.6 cents

Austin-San Marcos - $3.065, up 7.6 cents

Beaumont - $3.100, up 9.3 cents

Corpus Christi - $3.057, up 10.5 cents

Dallas - $3.053, up 7.5 cents

El Paso - $3.052 up 9.0 cents

Fort Worth - $3.047, up 7.0 cents

Galveston-Texas City - $3.058, up 9.2 cents

Houston - $3.053, up 8.1 cents

San Antonio - $3.026, up 7.9 cents

Texarkana (Texas only) - $3.136, up 7.3 cents

State - $3.069, up 7.9 cents Nationally - $3.161, up 7.5 cents
