CWF meeting held at Early home

CWF members held their monthly meeting February 18, 2008 at the home of Marada Early. Before getting down to club business, members were treated to a delicious dinner of meat lasagna, seasoned green beans, salad with creamy Italian dressing, butter pecan cake, lemon raspberry tart and ice tea prepared by Mrs. Early and cohostess Carolyn Kennedy. After dinner members enjoyed visiting with each other and especially with Ethel Soule who had been out sick and had not been able to attend meetings for the past year. Those attending the dinner were Louise Harrison, Cathy Fothergill, Virginia Wallace, Peggy Bowen, Wilma Cook, Geraldine Cox, Ethel Soule, Ellen Watson, Miriam Burton, Jean Robertson, Sue Imrie, and Carolyn Gunn.

Louise Harrison opened the meeting by asking members to join in reciting the CWF prayer.

There being no old business, Peggy Bowen was asked to give an update on the club financial position. Ms. Bowen reported that after sending $600 to the Church Finance Council the club budget was still in good shape.

Reporting on committee news, Geraldine Cox reminded members of the birthday party to be held at Gregg Home Thursday, February 21st. Mrs. Cox asked for volunteers to prepare cakes for the party.

Wilma Cook passed out names of friends and families with illness who needed to be remembered in our prayers. Various members gave reports on those who have asked for prayer requests.

Marada Early had questions on the progress of First Christian Church's History Center project. Peggy Bowen gave members an update of the project's completion. Mrs. Bowen reported that the room was coming together quite nicely and recommended everyone should stop by and see the pictures that had been added. Ms. Bowen stated that the history room would always be a work in progress because things would be added or changed as needed. Carolyn Kennedy brought up the discussion of having baptism dates on file in the History room and several members agreed it would be a nice idea. Mrs. Bowen said she would bring it to the History room committee's attention.

Peggy Bowen reported on the club's fund raiser coming up on March 3, 2008. Plans for the luncheon for the garden club Judges were discussed and volunteers were assigned job duties.

There being no further club business the meeting was turned over to Miriam Burton who gave a very interesting presentation on the miracle "Healing the Man Born Blind." Mrs. Burton, a very entertaining speaker, brought the miracle of Jesus Christ to life as she imaginatively described the period and the people involved in the miracle.

Club members have chosen as this years study "The Miracles of Jesus Christ." Members volunteer to present each meeting one of the many miracles preformed by Jesus. The March program will be presented by Carolyn Gunn on "Feeding the Five Thousand."

The meeting adjourned with the reading of the Fellowship Benediction.

The next CWF meeting March 17 will be held at the Bowen home. Anyone interested in attending should contact the Church office or a CWF member.
