EDWIN NEAL ROBERSON, SR. Graveside services for Mr. Edwin Neal Roberson, Sr., 87, of Kilgore will be at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Danville Cemetery with the Reverend G. A. Stanfield officiating. Mr. Roberson passed away Sunday morning, February 24, 2008. Mr. Roberson was born on July 31, 1920 to Arthur and Annie Belle Roberson. He was one of five children born to the couple. He grew up on the family farm near Danville. Eddie attended Longview Schools. He met and married Oma Lovette in 1942. The couple moved to Houston where he worked in the shipyards until he joined the United States Army. Mr. Roberson served with the 44th Infantry Division fighting in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Upon being discharged, he worked in the oil fields of Louisiana. The family later moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he became involved in the home building industry. In 1950, the family moved to the Kilgore area and he continued his carpentry business. Above everything, Mr. Roberson loved to study his Bible. He also loved the out doors, especially camping, fishing, water skiing, and raising birds. He enjoyed working with his hands and building furniture. Mr. Roberson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His daughter and son-inlaw, Gayle and Ronny Still of Longview; a son, Eddie Roberson, Jr. of Kilgore; daughter-in-law, Joan Fuller of Tyler; seven grandchildren, William Roberson, Jr., Renee' Carter, Angie Hall, Roman Roberson, Ian Roberson, Monica Kuykendall, and Brandon Still; fourteen great children; a sister, Frankie Mathews of Longview survive him. His parents, his wife, a son, William Boyd Roberson, a grandson, Ryan Roberson, and four sisters, preceded Mr. Roberson in death. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home between six and eight p.m., Monday, February 25, 2008. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, Dept 886, PO Box 13707, Houston, Texas 77219 or the National Rifle Association.
