White to endorse Obama, Clinton endorsed by newspaper HOUSTON (AP) - Another endorsement for Senator Barack Obama, who is trying to win the Democratic presidential nomination. Former Texas Governor Mark White plans to announce his support today for Obama. The former governor says Obama is a visionary who has set forth a superior proposal to reform health care. White plans to make his announcement today at a Houston hospital. White, a conservative Democrat, was elected governor in 1982, defeating Republican Bill Clements. He served four years and was defeated by Clements in 1986. White ran for governor again in 1990, but lost in the Democratic primary to Ann Richards. Obama's rival for the nomination picked up two endorsements yesterday. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was endorsed by former U.S. Representative Ken Bentsen of Houston and the Laredo Morning Times. The newspaper says Clinton "comes to the American people with a great deal of experience and negotiating talent, wiser for her falls but still optimistic about creating a great future for our children and grandchildren." |
