KHS boys tie, lose in OT; girls fall
HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

ROUGH AND TUMBLE - Kilgore's Kandace Shackleford (left) guides the ball away from a Lindale defender. Lindale beat Kilgore, 1-0, on Friday night.
Doing their best Rocky Balboa impersonation, the Kilgore High School Bulldogs just won't stay down.

Facing unbeaten Lindale Friday night and knowing they needed to at least tie to realistically stay in the playoff hunt in District 17-4A, Kilgore played the Eagles to a 1-1 tie, losing in regulation, 2-1.

The Bulldogs are in fourth place, needing to be in the top three to make the playoffs. They have a favorable schedule to do that. Marshall, the current No. 3 seed, visits Kilgore on Tuesday night. A Kilgore win, coupled with a Marshall loss to Pine Tree Friday, could lift KHS into that No. 3 seed.

Garrett Fields scored Kilgore's goal Friday night at Lindale off an assist by Will Estel.

Also at Lindale on Friday night, boys junior varsity won, moving their record in district play to 10-1.

Here at R.E. St. John, the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs played one of their best games of the season, losing 1-0 to a Lindale team that had beaten Kilgore 7- 0 earlier in the schedule.

Lindale scored its lone goal shortly before halftime, and held off a scrappy KHS team the rest of the way.

The JV girls won, 3-1.

The Lady Bulldogs will visit Marshall at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, beginning with the JV game.
