Changes in zoning at two Kilgore locations
P&Z commission expected to okay new convenience store
By KATHRYN MARTINEZ news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Kilgore officials are charged with rezoning two parcels this week to satisfy Kilgore's recent economic growth.

Carol Windham, director of planning, said Rocky Ridge Apartments are slated for demolition, followed by the adjacent convenience store. According to Windham, after both are razed, plans for the lots at the intersection of North Street and South Henderson Boulevard have revealed a super-sized convenience store and gas station.

The convenience store and gas station on that corner are owned by Jackie and Vickie Clayton.

Windham said the property at Rocky Ridge is zoned "local retail one" and must be changed to "local retail four" for construction of the new and improved store.

Another change, off of Longview Street, is for an anticipated special-use permit in an area zoned for light manufacturing. A recent application has requested the permit to build a privately-owned community building.

Windham and the Planning and Zoning Board of Directors meet 8:30 a.m. tomorrow
