Pizza on the day after

If you looked around the local shops the day after Valentine's Day you would think a storm breezed down the aisles containing anything remotely associated with the day. The florists will tell you they survived the week by purchasing soft drinks by the case loads and though totally exhausted the next day all seemed to be pleased with one of the biggest days of the year. One of the funniest floral cards to go out was signed by "the other man" when in fact it was actually sent by a woman. "One lady complained that her husband would not pay to have roses sent to her," said Donna Shupe at The Greenery, "So, for fun, we just sent her some from the shop with a note attached that read everyone deserves roses on Valentine's Day." The next day a pizza arrived at the shop from the lady with a card that read, " I think everyone deserves pizza on the day after Valentine's Day."

Wilbur Yates entertained "his ladies" once again at a Valentine luncheon held at the Country Club. A yearly event, and one that his wife, Kay doesn't mind, Wilbur's single and widow lady (clients) dine with him. A total of 39 women attended the luncheon and Wilbur made sure he presented each one with a rose as their plates were being filled. This year, Wilbur shared the luncheon with Scott, who is the son of Margaret Martin. Wilbur didn't mind sharing the ladies at all. "

This is such a fun thing for us to do," said Donna Beets, Branch Office Administrator for Edward Jones. It is something special we can do for those who do not have a special Valentine in their lives at this time."

Jimmy and Brenda Robinson, Gregg and Sue Caskey took a trip to Rio Dosa, New Mexico for a getaway prior to Valentine's Day. "Last summer we went to Wyoming and Montana to get away from the heat," said Jimmy. "And it was hotter there than it was here. This year, we go to Rio Dosa to enjoy the snow and there was none. In fact, they warned us to bring a vehicle to get up the mountain. We did see snow at the ski resort, but that was above the timberline. If you take me on your vacation it will get messed up every time. If you want snow, you'll get heat and if you want heat you'll get cold. Still we had a good time and we did go to Roswell where the alien cover up took place and enjoyed the museum there," he said. (This bunch will find fun no matter where they go. It seems.)

"My mom and dad have two donkeys named Hillary and Bill," said Ronnie Spradlin. The donkeys had a baby this week. It is really cute but not named yet. Do you think they dare name her Chelsie?"
