KILGOROUND
BILL WOODALL

BE HONEST NOW, don't you really admire teachers who find creative ways to help students learn?

AT SABINE Elementary, fourth graders are writing a play based on the old Aesop's fables. They are also making the costumes.

THE play will be performed by a cast of kindergarten students. Two shows during the day on April 21 will be for other students. A special performance for friends and famiklies will be at 6:30 that evening.

CREATIVE? The kids will learn to appreciate Aesop, they'll sharpen their writing skills, they will develop an appreciation for the stage and public presentation, they'll whoop and holler over the costumes.

IT'S STILL not busting out all over, but spring is dangerously close in our part of the country.

THE daffodils are up -- not in bloom, yet, but they've poked their heads out from under the covers

-- and the crape myrtles are budding up.

WE'RE eager to see how many of the 10,000 bulbs planted almost two years ago return for a second colorful season.

DON'T forget that tickets for "BOOM!" (The Musical About -- Us) - and about the East Texas Oil Field - are on sale at Kilgore National Bank. Reserved seats for the March 8 production are $20. General admission tickets are half that.

+++ THE once-confusing patois of the texting and emailing communities is about to become commonplace.

MOST of us have come to recognize BTW as "by the way," C U soon as "see you soon," 2nite as "tonight" and TTYL as "talk to you later" even though there's no actual talking involved.
