OPAL WALKER DURRETT

Graveside Services for Mrs. Opal Walker Durrett, 96, of Kilgore will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens with Reverend Earl "Buddy" Duggins officiating. Mrs. Durrett passed away on February 13 in Kilgore.

She was born February 7, 1912 in Ajax, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Chester and Sallie Walker. Mrs. Durrett and her late husband Marcus were married for 69 years. They moved to Kilgore in the early 1930's and called Kilgore home until their deaths. She was a member of Laird Hill Baptist Church since 1938 and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #630. Mrs. Durrett used to work as a seamstress at Jordan's and The Toggery.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sally and Bob Bustin, grandson Bobby Bustin and wife Sherry, great grandchildren Bethany and Ryan Bustin all of Kilgore; son, John Marcus Durrett of Jacksonville; grandsons Charles Durrett and Tommy Durrett and wife Janey; three other great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Durrett was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marcus Durrett; sisters, Alma Cranford, Irene Berry, Fannie Smith and Bessie Gregory; brothers, Johnny Walker, Buddy Walker and C.J. Walker.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who has provided compassionate care and friendship to her over the past few years of her earthly life.
