On Saturday in Master's Gym at Kilgore College will be the site for a dance and drill team competition, the Gussie Nell Davis Memorial Dance Classic. Sponsored by American Dance/Drill Team, the event is in memory of the founder of the Kilgore College Rangerettes and creator of the drill team phenomenon. Along with ADTS, the event will be staffed by current Rangerettes, Rangerettes Forever, and parents or friends of Rangerettes. Proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise sales will benefit Rangerette scholarships. Several area dance/drill teams, including Longview, Hallsville and Spring Hill, will be competing. The public is invited. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. and performances will be nonstop until 7:45 p.m. Tickets are: adults, $7.00, students, $5.00, with seniors and children under 5 free. In addition to a professional contest format, the teams will also have an opportunity to visit with current and former Rangerettes. They will also see a performance of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes and tour the Rangerette Showcase, as well as be a part in building scholarship funds for Rangerettes.

Don't forget to get your tickets for Boom. A Musical about the the East Texas Oil Boom will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Kilgore High School auditorium. Script, Lyrics, and Music by Dr. Lottie L. Guttry and directied by Liz Hedges. Orchestral director is James Snowden and musical director will be by Guttry.

The event is sponsored by the Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation. Tickets are available at Texas Bank & Trust-Longview and Kilgore National Bank. Reserved tickets are $20 and general admission tickets are $10.

The cast will include men, women and children of a wide range of ages.

The Kilgore High School Bulldogs baseball team will be home tomorrow for a scrimmage against Carthage starting at 5 p.m. at Driller Park.

The Lady Bulldog soccer team will be in action Friday night, the JV is scheduled to play at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity game to follow. The Lady Bulldogs will be taking on Athens. The weather is suppose to be fowl, so bundle up and come on out and support the team.
