Kilgore College breaks down enrollment for both campuses Enrollment at Kilgore College this semester topped 5,000 students including more than 1400 taking at least one class at the school's Longview campus. Final enrollment numbers are considered official after the 12th day of enrollment. Chris Craddock, public information officer for KC said the enrollment stood at 5055 students, up 22 students from the 5033 students enrolled at the end of regular registration. Out of these numbers of students who registered, 1019 did so during regular registration, which includes web and oncampus registration. Registration numbers for last spring semester were 4757 students for the final certified enrollment. Craddock said it is difficult for the registrars office to break down the numbers from the Kilgore campus to the Longview campus because students might take classes at both locations. However the registrar's office reported that students taking one or more class at the Longview campus totaled 1446 students, which makes up 29.9 percent of enrollment. Students at the Kilgore campus taking at least one or more classes totaled 3419, making up 70.7 percent of the student population. Students taking classes on both campuses at the same time totaled 548, making up 11.3 percent of the total student population. Robin Huskey, director of research and institutional effectiveness for KC said the breakdown of the student population is as follows; there are 1821 male students and 3230 female students and four are not coded. Huskey said in the age category there are 361 students under 18, 2441 students between the age of 18-21, 630 between the age of 22-24, 716 between the age of 25-30, 336 students between the age of 31-35, 474 students between the age of 36- 50, 83 students between the age of 51-64 and 12 students 65 and older. The ethnic breakdown of the student population according to Huskey, 3350 students are white, 886 African American, 318 Hispanic, 33 Asian, 21 Indian and 144 students are international. There are 144 where ethnicity was not reported. Huskey said the breakdown by state and country of origin is as follows; 4848 students are from Texas, 66 students are from out-of-state and 133 are from out of country. Eight were unknown. |
