Hedrick announces bid for KISD board The first day to file for election to Kilgore Independent School District board of trustees opened yesterday and the line-up has broadened. Revard Pfeffer, business manager for KISD, said Terry George, the incumbent in Position 2, filed for re-election on Monday. Dale Henley, who declared last week to run for Position 1, also filed, but Derek Borders, who declared he would run for Position 1 has not yet filed his paperwork. A bit of a surprise was David Hedrick, who Pfeffer said filed to run for Position 1. Hedrick was a long time board member who resigned in 2006 from Position 4 now held by Mark Dickey. Hedrick said he wants to bring his experience back to KISD, the board and the community. "I served for 12 years on the board," said Hedrick. "Being on the board is a team concept. I was a team player then and will continue to be if elected." Hedrick said he has been encouraged by friends to run again. "It is all about the kids," said Hedrick. Position 1 is now held by board president and long-time board member George Faber, who has decided he will not seek re-election. The KISD election will be held on May 10 at Kilgore City Hall. The filing deadline is March 10. Position 1 and 2 are the only two board positions open at this time. George is still unopposed. |
