Kilgore Soccer Association to address city council to address funding
By KATHRYN MARTINEZ news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Kilgore City Council meets Tuesday and is slated to hear a citizen presentation from Kilgore Soccer Association regarding a request for financial assistance.

Staff presentations include Ronnie Moore, director of Public Safety, who will present an Above and Beyond Certificate and lifesaving bar to Paul Berry, Kilgore police officer. Moore will also report to the council on renovations at fire stations two and three, as well as the EMS facility.

Jeff Howell, city manager, will update council on Springtree Addition and on Crim Theater roof replacement.

Consent agenda items include a request from East Texas Treatment Center for permits, and possibly a waiver of all fees, for Party in the Patch, scheduled April 4 and 5.

East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will ask the city to once again join the agency for collaborative services to provide substance abuse prevention education to area youth.

Council will also consider awarding a bid for outdoor siren services.

No public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday night.

The council is also slated to discuss funding for Maverick Drive and Chandler Street projects.

Council will likely approve an agreement for engineering services on Maverick Drive improvements, discuss residential water refunds, amend an ordinance to increase the Fire Department general fund budget by $7,500, consider funding for a new fire truck and approve the purchase of the unit.

Council is also expected to adopt an ordinance for city right-of-way management, approve funds for sludge dredging at the water treatment plant, discuss skateboard ramp improvements at City Park and approve an agreement between the city and Gregg County for the widening of FM 349 at Elder Lake Road.

Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Kilgore City Hall in council chambers.
