MLMS 8th grade Career Investigations students will participate in Job Shadow Day 2008 on Tuesday, February 12. If you haven't been fortunate enough to host a shadow for this event - you are missing out! Through this program, students spend the day at work with a local business getting first hand experience about what a job is all about. This a wonderful opportunity for students to gain confidence, learn about productive work habits and foster interest in the world of work! Students who meet academic and discipline requirements will soon be knocking on the doors of local businesses to locate a host for the day. So, if a student contacts you about spending the day learning about your career or business - remember, it is a great opportunity for the business community to influence tomorrow's workforce. For the past few years, the students of MLMS have contacted local businesses themselves, seeking a "host" for Job Shadow Day. This allows the students to locate careers they are most interested in - plus, business owners are able to meet the young people who want to job shadow at their business. However, if you would like to host a student - email or call me and I will direct a student to your location. If you are contacted by student and would like to learn more about this program, please contact Darla Williams at dkwilliams@kisd.org or visit the national Job Shadow web site at www.jobshadow.org +++ HAPPY birthday Ralph (Bubba) Ward Jr., Richard Patterson, David Martin, Brewnell Price, Genera Henderson, Timothy Alan Smith, Terry Laws, Jewel Howell, E.A.
