KC beats Lee, visits Paris on Wednesday
By MITCH LUCAS sports@kilgorenewsherald.com JUNIOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL

DOZEN TIMES TWO - Kilgore College's Ridge McKeither (42, shown here against Panola) scored 24 points in KC's 84-76 road win at Lee on Saturday.
Every win is a good win at this point for the Kilgore College Runnin' Rangers, who traveled to Baytown over the weekend and came home with an 84-76 win over Lee College on Saturday evening.

KC (12-9 overall, 4-9 in Region XIV Conference play) got 24 points from Ridge McKeither in the victory. McKeither, of Danville, Va., is one of Kilgore College's freshmen (the Rangers have a lot of them - they're very young this year, with only four sophomores).

With that win, KC has won two of its last three games.

The Runnin' Rangers, coached by Scott Schumacher, are in ninth place overall in the conference, right now just one spot out of a berth in the conference's tournament. That tournament is to be played here at Masters Gymnasium beginning March 8.

Kilgore College placed three other players in double figures against Lee: La'Marshall Corbett (14), Brandon Roberson (11) and Omar Thomas (10).

The Rangers will have a challenge on their hands on Wednesday night, visiting Paris Junior College - No. 4 in the last national poll - in the second half of a doubleheader. The women's teams will play first, a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. Hear those games live, the call of Manny Almanza, on KZQX 105.3-FM, on Wednesday.

Coach Roy Thomas' Lady Rangers were off this weekend. Tomorrow night at Paris, they'll be trying to break a five-game losing streak.
