Super Bowl XLII: Patriots vs. Giants

Participating teams: The New England Patriots are 18-0), representing the American Football Conference (AFC), and the New York Giants, representing the National Football Conference (NFC). The Patriots, of course, are trying to become just the second team to run through an NFLseason without suffering a loss (the 1972 Miami Dolphins were the first, although they played two less regular-season games back then). The Giants are seeking the franchise's third Super Bowl title.

Kickoff: Technically, 5:17 p.m. Central time on FOX (Kilgore Cable channels 8, 24). Pregame coverage begins at 1 p.m.

National anthem: American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. Halftime show: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
