HENRY MITCHELL

Services for Henry Edward Mitchell, 78, of Kilgore will be at two p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Earl W. "Buddy" Duggins officiating. Masonic Graveside Services will follow in Kilgore City Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in Kilgore.

Mr. Mitchell was born August 13, 1929, in Richland, Navarro County, Texas; to Mack and Viva Renshaw Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell spent several of his younger years in Madison County, Texas, but the family moved back to Navarro County and he attended school in Richland, Texas. He went to work for Tidewater Oil Company, later called Getty Oil Company, in 1948 in Cayuga, Texas. In 1949, he married Dorothy Jane Wertz where they made their first home in Cayuga and were blessed with two lovely daughters. In 1955, they moved to South Louisiana, where they lived for 21 years prior to moving back to Kilgore in 1976. He was an avid worker for disabled children at the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and is a 50 year member of The Danville Masonic Lodge #101; The Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and Sharon Shrine Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Viva Renshaw Mitchell; two sisters, Hazel Mitchell Patterson and Faye Mitchell Gist.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Jane Wertz Mitchell of Kilgore, two daughters & sons-inlaw, Terry Jane and Darrell Guidroz of Mandeville, La.and Linda Kaye and Darrell Rabalais of Greenwell Springs, La.; four grandchildren, Tanner Guidroz, Tate Guidroz, Grant Rabalais and Maggie Jane Rabalais; two sisters and their husbands, Maxine and James Goolsby of Bossier City, La. and Jimmie Lou and Howett Jackson of Joinerville, Texas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are Darrell Guidroz, Tanner Guidroz, Tate Guidroz, Darrell Rabalais, Grant Rabalais and Max Hogan.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Friday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
