DON B. BENNETT Don B. Bennett was born on April 10, 1928 in Alexandria, La. and went home to be with his Lord on January 25, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murt and Jewel Bennett; brothers, Dale E. and Bobby Ray Bennett; son James Nicklaus Bennet; and grandson, Travis Nicklaus- Ratliff. Don graduated from Overton High School and obtained his college degree from Indiana State University. He served in the U.S. Army as a soldier in the Korean War. As a young man he was a teacher, coach and athletic trainer. For many years he was a salesman in the sporting goods industry. In the last years of his life he was an active member in the Republic of Texas. His sister, Suzi Page, and her husband Bob, their sons Chris and Pat of Broken Arrow, OK survive him. Three daughters and their families, Amanda and Michael Bennett Vessa of Basel, Switzerland; Wendy and Mike Ratliff of Bowie, Tx. Nicky and Sam Cureton of El Reno, Ok. Grandchildren Justin Ratliff of Wichita Falls, TX; Chance Cureton, Erin and Tyler Meng of Roswell, NM. Paige Cureton of Joplin, Mo., Cristi Bennett of Houston, TX., Taylor Bennett of Dallas, TX. And great-grandson Nicklaus Spencer Bennett. Don will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
