JAMES " JIM" OUBRE

Services for Jim Oubre, 61 of Kilgore will be four p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Eddie Hillburn officiating. He peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2008, at home while surrounded by family and close friends.

Jim was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 11, 1946. He was raised in Southern California and graduated from Whittier High School. Jim also attended Long Beach State prior to serving our country in the Army.

Jim married his best friend Ricki in 1982. He is survived by wife Ricki Oubre of Kilgore; children Derick Oubre of Kilgore, Nicole Oubre of Hallsville, Sam McKnight of Kilgore, Kristina Calac-Ross of California; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Linda Oubre of Brea, California; a granddaughter, Kortney McKnight of Kilgore; motherin law, Pauline Lane of Kilgore; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jim was a local businessman who was also active in many city clubs and organizations. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kilgore. He also was the president of the Kilgore Lions Club, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce and active in the booster clubs of both Kilgore High School and Kilgore College. He worked for York Pump in Kilgore and Longview and had worked in many businesses of the same through the years and was a proud member of the American Association of Plumbing Engineers. Jim also owned two local businesses, Oil Masters of Kilgore, Inc. and Rig Masters.

Jim is welcomed into heaven by his parents; Ora and Gerald Oubre; grandparents; Vernon and Viola Glazier; Grandparents; Ovide and Linda Oubre; father in-law, Alex Lane and sister-in-law, Geri Ford.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Kilgore Lions Club, Margaret's House on Gilmer Road or the First Baptist Church of Kilgore.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday evening between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.
