Kilgore College hosts Chorale reunion Kilgore College will host a 40th anniversary Kilgore College chorale reunion Saturday, February 9 . Jeanne Johnson, chair of the KC music department, said five of the former directors who will take part are Melvin Marshall, who began the chorale in 1968, Dr. Dale Miller now director of choral activities at Arkansas State University, Dr. Paul Neal, director of choral activities at Valdosta State University in Georgia, Mary Heiden, a former chorale director who will serve as accompanist for the festivities and Dr. Bill Holda, KC's president who is also a former director. Johnson said alumni will arrive at the Anne Dean Turk Fine ArtsCenter on Saturday at 9 a.m. to begin registration and check-In. From 10 a.m. to noon there will be a rehearsal with Dr. Miller and Dr. Neal in the Van Cliburn Auditorium and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m the alumni will have a luncheon in the Devall Student Center ballroom. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a second rehearsal with Dr. Miller and Dr. Neal in the Dodson Auditorium and the concert itself will be at 7:30 p.m. in Dodson Auditorium. Johnson said more than 70 alumni have already registered for the event who will be performing in conjunction with the current KC Chorale under the direction of Ryan Kelly. "Over 130 singers will take part in the concert that evening in the Dodson Auditorium," said Johnson. "The public is invited at no admission cost." |
