BONNIE MAE GILLIS Funeral services for Bonnie Mae Gillis, 88, of Marshall will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at Colonial Chapel of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home, of Marshall, with Father John Himes officiating. Interment will be in Algoma Cemetery-North. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednewday, Jan. 30, 2008. Uner the direction fo Sullivan Hester Funeral Home. She passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 in Marshall, She was born Nov. 11, 1919, to Louise McCraney and Andrew Truitt. She married Charles Frederick Gillis on Feb. 28, 1939 in Bossier City, LA. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2000. Mrs. Gillis had a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She and Fred had four children. After her children were out of college, she completed nursing school at the age of 50. She worked at Marshall Memorial Hospital and Marshall manor Nursing Home. She was an inspiration to others to never give up on your dreams. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jerri Gillis of Marshall, Fred and Carol Gillis of Irving; two daughters, Betty V. Gillis Alder of Kilgore and Judy Gillis of Marshall; grandchildren, Steve and Dianne Robinson of Aberdeen, Scotland, Norman and Sheery Worthen of Carlile, PA., Michael and Sue Murphy of Grand Prarie, Amy Murphy of McKinney, Michael and Kathy Murphy Brown of Bonham, Chuck and Karen Gillis of Richardson, Susan and Randy Freise of Dallas, Fred Gillis, Jr., of Irving; great-grandchildren, Dendal and Kent Robinson of Aberdeen, Scotland, Diana and Julia Worthen of Carlile, PA., Ethan and Jack Gillis of Richardson, Ryleigh Gillis of Irving, Parker and Camden Brwon of Bonham; twin sister, Rose Macey of Bossier City; friend and devoted caregiver, Angela Seals of Marshall; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janie Carnegie. |
