Arp man arrested after high speed chase through Kilgore

An Arp man was arrested in Longview yesterday after a high-speed chase through Kilgore and three other jurisdictions.

Sheriff 's Interdiction Investigator Tracy Freeman attempted to stop the black Nissan sport utility vehicle on Interstate 20 yesterday morning, after the vehicle apparently violated traffic laws.

As Freeman maneuvered into position for a stop, the driver of the SUV evaded the deputy.

The driver turned the SUV southbound onto State Highway 42 and drove into Kilgore city limits. He drove south to Hwy 259 before turning back toward Longview.

Once on Hwy. 259 the driver headed north to Longview at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. Kilgore Police joined Freeman in the pursuit.

As the SUV left Kilgore, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers intercepted the SUV. The driver continued to evade law enforcement and entered Longview. Longview Police Officers came in on the chase through Longview before the driver was stopped on Reel Road on the north side of Longview.

Officers assisting in the pursuit used spike sticks to stop the vehicle.
