KIS held school wide spelling bee

Kilgore Intermediate School fourth and fifth-grade class representatives showed off their spelling finesse Friday in the school-wide Spelling Bee.

The battle came down to twin-brothers Rohit and Sanjit Lanka.

Rohit was last year's alternate, but this year he took home the school-champion title.

The brothers compete against each other again 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22, when KIS hosts the Gregg County spelling bee.

Fourth graders participating were Ben Simpson, Darrion Payne, Jeridiah Lewis, Cailon Palmer, Drew Bates Autumn Schara, Emily Adamson, Natalie O'Quinn, Jair Hilburn, Randy Chavez, Cassidy Daniel and Mikayla Thomas.

Fifth graders were Arica Watson, Shelly Lindsey, Brianna Woodall Bradley Travis, Shelby Henson, Cassi Littleton, Reagan Pfeffer, Colton Brasher, Malori Sanders, Eleanor Andrade, Rohit Lanka and Sanjit Lanka.
