Kilgore Woman's Club announce new officers

The Kilgore Woman's Club held their January 10th meeting at the First Christian Church. President Peggy Bowne opened the meeting with the reciting of the club collect. Ruth Ann Camp read the minutes of the last meeting. Virginia Wallace reported on Civic Affairs. Virginia spoke about the Kilgore community Concert Association. The upcoming program will be the very exciting Harry James Orchestra. The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. on January 27 at Dodson Auditorium. Great chance for those who do not care to drive in the evening, to experience this great event!

Christ The King Crusaders still have Buckets of Pecan and Cashew brittle for $10, and Peanut for $8. contact Mary Grush, 903-984-7737. The Kilgore Boys and Girls Club is now open. Located in the former Senior Center at 724 Harris Street, it has been redone and is now a wonderful place for children. Kids may enroll for $10 per person for the entire school year. Hours are 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Social Committee is planning as Guest Day Tea. Sharon Cox and Patti Cunyus are planning a very exciting program, details later. The date is April 10th. Place to be announced.

Ray Cunyus gave the program. She spoke about The Southern Woman, from a point of view of one who was not fortunate enough to be born in the South, admiring the way the Southern lady gets things done without raising her voice or creating a fuss.

The 2008-09 slate of officers was presented and approved as follows: President, Carroll Bolton; 1st Vice, Sharon Cox; 2nd Vice, Ruth Ann Camp; Secretary & Reporter, Marion Dovel; Parliamentarian, Peggy Bowne; Historian, Virginia Wallace; Treasurer, Morada Early. The meeting closed with a quote from President Peggy Bowne.

Members attending were Carroll Bolton, Peggy Bowne, Dimples Burns, Ruth Ann Camp, Sharon Cox, Patti Cunyus, Lauren Cunyus, Ray Cunyus, Marion Dovel, Morada Early, Jeanne Hale, Dianna Jones, Carolyn Kennedy, Martha Lee, Virginia Wallace, Ellen Watson, Rosalee Floyd, Linda Sartor, and Marion Richardson. Hostesses were Patti Cunyus and Rosalee Floyd who provided wonderful food for this meeting. The next meeting will be on January 24 at the home of Carroll Bolton.
