By LESTER MURRAY news2@kilgorenewsherald.com

KISD BOARD PRESIDENT GEORGE FABER
George Faber, a Kilgore school trustee, said last night he has decoded not to seek another term.

At their regularly scheduled meeting last night, board members learned that Board President Faberwill retire after this spring's election.

The board set the trustee election for March 10. Positions subject to election include Faber's and position two held by Terry George.

George stated he has not decided at this time whether to seek another term.

George has been on the board for 15 years.

Faber said in a prepared statement he wanted to thank the public for allowing him to serve on the KISD board for 24 years, from 1984 to present.

"It has been an enjoyable opportunity and a personal delight to represent the people of Kilgore," said Faber. "Serving on the board has been a joy, with an opportunity for me to see both academic growth and the expansion of the KISD facilities." Faber said he hopes students are now more prepared then ever at KISD to move on to another level.

DENNIS WILLIAMS
In other business, Kilgore native Dennis Williams was hired as assistant superintendent of personnel. He will be filling the position vacated by superintendnet elect Jody Clements. A salary for this position has not yet been established.

Williams graduated from Kilgore in 1979. He went on to Lamar University on a football scholarship and majored in physical education and minored in sociology.

Williams is the principal at Nacogdoches High School. He also taught at Marshall High School for 15 years and was the assistant principal there for four years.

"I also taught at Arp School District," said Williams. "That is where I met my wife, Ruth."

Williams has two children, Wesley Williams, 14, and Amber Williams, 11, who attend McMichael Middle School. "My children will finish out the year at McMichael before coming to KISD next year," said Williams.

Williams said his grandparents and parents are from Kilgore and "it is a joy to be coming home."

Jerry Roberts, superintendent, said Williams will start as soon as Nacogdoches releases him from his contract which should be in early February.
