Rusk and Gregg County officials are slated to be sworn in this week.

While Gregg County offices are closed on New Year's Day, the 188th Courtroom is open briefly for the swearing in of elected and re-elected officials, including: Jim Worthen, chief justice 12th Court of Appeals; Bill Jennings, 124th district judge elect; Maxey Cerliano, Gregg County sheriff; Charles Davis, Pct. 1 commissioner; James Plumlee, pct. 1 constable; Billy Fort, Pct 2 constable; Bill Echart, Pct. 3 constable; Robby Cox, Pct. 4 constable; and, Kirk Shields, county tax assessor/collector.The swearing in ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 1, 2009 at Gregg County Courthouse in the 188th District Courtroom with Bill Stoudt, Gregg County Judge, officiating.

In Rusk County J. Clay Gossett, 4th district judge, presides over the swearing in of 11 Rusk County officials, including: Micheal Jimerson, district attorney; Matt Gabriel, county tax collector assessor; Danny Pirtle, sheriff elect; Bill Hale, Pc. 1 commissioner; Sammy Nichols, Pct. 1 constable; Ben Ferrell, Pct. 2 constable; Kenneth Miley, Pct. 3 constable; David Guy, Pct. 4 constable; and Jimmy Skinner, Pct. 5 constable.

Judge Gossett will also be sworn in; but, by another official.

Freddy Swan, Pct. 3 commissioner is scheduled to be out of town and will be sworn in monday.

The ceremony is slated for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 in the 4th Judicial Courtroom at Rusk COunty Courthouse.
