Craddock gives historical program to Sons of the American Revolution
Van Craddock, John Bolton and Bettye Craddock Members of Chapter 57 of the East Texas Branch of the Sons of the American Revolution met at Johnny Cace's on Dec. 4 for their Christmas dinner and meeting.
President John Bolton called the meeting to order and led the chapter in the pledge to the flag of the United States of America, to the Texas flag and the SAR flag.
Harry Fife, state SAR president, and his wife were special guests.
After dinner, President Bolton introduced Van Craddock and his wife Bettye. Van is a long-time columnist for the Longview News-Journal and has published two books, "I Would've Been a Lumberjack, But I Couldn't Hack It" and "Historic Gregg County." Mrs. Craddock is a journalism instructor at Kilgore College.
Van's program for the evening brought the chapter many historical and humorous facts about the history of East Texas.
President Bolton announced the next meeting will be held Feb. 5, 2009, at Johnny Cace's. Any male who can trace his lineage back to a family member who served in the American Revolution is invited to attend. If interested, help is available for filling out applications.
