Queen Price Garden Club honors fourth grade girls with afternoon tea
      Queen Price Garden Club members hosted an afternoon Christmas Tea at their club house for fourth grade girls from Overton Elementary School on Dec. 9. The girls, festively attired for the occasion, along with their teachers Susan Bobbitt and Jeannie Hartley, were welcomed by Colleen Randel. She also talked briefly about the goals and history of Queen Price Garden Club.

      Perceptor Omicron Epsilon chapter Beta Sigma Phi met on Dec. 9 at the Country Place Village with Debra Albertson as hostess. President Annette Morgan called the meeting to order and led members in the Opening Ritual. Before the meeting members were serenaded by Girl Scout Troop 569 from Liberty City.

      Members of Chapter 57 of the East Texas Branch of the Sons of the American Revolution met at Johnny Cace's on Dec. 4 for their Christmas dinner and meeting. President John Bolton called the meeting to order and led the chapter in the pledge to the flag of the United States of America, to the Texas flag and the SAR flag.

      Sixteen members of Xi Pi Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi gathered Dec. 12 at Meadowbrook Country Club for their annual Christmas celebration. Each member was accompanied by a guest. The affair was hosted by Peggy Bowne and Lsha Stanley. They were assisted by Maryanne Harris.

Why is mince meat a pie?; Is wassail a beverage or singing? First of all, fruitcake is made of flour and tiny candied fruit and seems to show up every Christmas whether liked or not.

      Members of Xi Pi Mu met at the home of Lou Anne Morse on the evening of Dec. 7. Ann Thrower and Amanda Nobles served as co-hostesses for the meeting. Guests enjoyed served chips, dips, sandwiches and cookies. Vice President Sherry Lockman held pledge training before the meeting.
