Christmas home tour in Overton set for Dec. 7 The annual Christmas Tour of Homes, presented by the Queen Price Garden Club, is scheduled for 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. The tour includes the beautiful homes of Don and Mary Pat Eaves and John and Jean Davidson, along with the historical site known as Ms. Gussie's Pink House and a return to visit the most popular location on last year's tour, the Queen Price Garden Club House. Don and Mary Pat Eaves are familiar with the tour, having participated in the 1990s when they lived in the Coolidge House on Overton Street. Now, in their present home at 109 N. Garden Club Dr., a patriotic theme prevails in the living area. The theme was conceived to compliment the flag, displayed in a shadow box, which honors Don's dad, a WWII veteran. Many of the tree ornaments and other accessories about their home show the patriotic spirit. Furniture and treasures from their parents will also be on display. The moment guests enter the driveway at 1660 FM 918 West, the home of John and Jean Davidson, they will get the welcoming feeling, "Come on in!" Known as the Tyner Home, many pieces of furniture and accessories that grace the interior of this traditionally decorated home are family pieces from past generations. Because Jean's great-grandfather was noted for growing magnolia trees, there are accents which reflect the magnolia, including a prized collection of Roseville Pottery. When Jimmy and Loneta Nelson purchased the historic Miss Gussie's Pink House on South Street nearly 20 years ago, an extensive amount of renovating and updating needed to be done. Most of the work was completed by the Nelsons. Now, the Victorian cottage, built in the late 1880s, is tastefully decorated and highlighted with the Nelsons' collections and heirlooms. Hostess Loneta has made certain guests will find something special to admire in each and every room. This year the decorating theme of the Queen Price Garden Club House, located on Garden Club Drive, makes for a completely different look, so guests should not assume they have already seen the house. The garden club's overall theme, "The Symbols of the Season," will continue with good old St. Nick as the celebrated symbol. The creativity and enthusiasm of the members will be on display. There is something in the house that everyone will enjoy, no matter what the age. This is the only location where light refreshments will be served. Tickets are available from garden club members, at the Peanut Butter Emporium, Melba's, Citizens National Bank in Overton, London Museum and Tea Room, Jordan's Plant Farm, and at any tour location.
