Xi Pu Mu Chapter meets in McBride home Xi Pi Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Nov. 3 at Kristi McBride's home, with Peggy Bowne and Lou Anne Morse as co-hostesses for the meeting. Sandwiches, cookies and chips were served before the meeting. Vice President Sherry Lockman conducted pledge training prior to the meeting. President Pat Morchat called the meeting to order with members repeating the Opening Ritual together. Nineteen members were present: Deedy Adams, Lora Black, Peggy Bowne, Vicki Clayton, Diana Coston, Cookie Gauntt, Gail Hargrave, Maryanne Harris, Martha Lee, Sherry Lockman, Kristi McBride, Debbie Mc- Cubbin, Pat Morchat, Lou Anne Morse, Amanda Nobles, Ricki Oubre, Diann Pickard, Lsha Stanley and Ann Thrower. Exemplar Dinner will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at First Baptist Church. The scrapbook was presented from Peggy Bowne to 2007 President Vicki Clayton. Peggy Bowne read from the yardstick about the Silver Circle of 25 years. Gail Hargrave gave a program on government and the Torch of Freedom. Members voted for Xi Pi Mu Sweetheart for 2008-09 and were happy to report Peggy Bowne will be their new sweetheart. President Morchat and Vice President Lockman performed a Ritual of Jewels ceremony for new members Diana Coston and Cookie Gauntt. The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Lou Anne Morse's home. President Morchat called the meeting to a close with the Closing Ritual and Mizpah.
