Kilgore City Council looks to sell five acres of land on Commerce St. Kilgore City Council is slated to determine the future of five acres of land fronting Commerce Street Tuesday night. The city has two interested investors in the property: Kilgore College, which already owns a 10-acre tract in the area; and Chris Dunsworth, local developer. Council is also asked to ratify the purchase of a E-One Aerial fire truck in the amount $889,127.16, financed for four years through Austin Bank. Public hearings and ordinance action scheduled include a request to change zoning from Light Manufacturing to Single-Family Manufactured Home, in the 4200 block of Goforth Road; request to change zoning from Single-Family Manufactured housing to General Commercial District, North of the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and State Highway 31; rezoning in downtown to create a Downtown Core District; a Special Use Permit, at the intersection of FM 349 and Bypass 259; and, a Main Street Overlay in the center of downtown, to preserve its unique character. City Council iis also expected authorize the start of condemnation proceedings, for the acquisition of water utility easements, on properties on North Street, Myrtle Street and Houston Street that were not successfully negotiated. In other business KSA Engineers is scheduled to report on on-going projects; and council will offer con- sideration of a revised plan for the Fire Station No. 2 bay and roof expansion. Kilgore City Council meets 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Kilgore City Hall in Council Chambers.
