Boys and Girls Club council signs performance promises Kilgore Boys & Girls Club, after one year in the business of giving Kilgore kids a safe place to go when school lets out, has announced the updated membership total of 170, with an average attendance of 90 children per day. The club now has a total of five part-time program staff, a unit director and a program director. The club council is working on a strategic plan for the club, which includes sub-sections such as Impact, Beyond Our Walls, Stronger Organizations and Public Trust. David Stiewe, unit director, has invited children to address the board with reasons why the club is important to them. At the last council meeting approximately 10 children were present to witness and co-sign performance promises with club council members. Stiewe reported to the council that, counting children and vol- unteers, Kilgore Boys & Girls Club had 110 participants in the club's Halloween party last month and that the club fundraiser auction raised nearly $1,300 with items ranging from original works of art to collectibles, quilts and novelty items. The highest bids went to an old authentic sombrero and a collectible Campbell's Soup wagon. Club council has other fundraising ideas for the coming year, which include a fundraising kickoff gala, a wine and cheese social and other events.
