THURSDAY

KILGORE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION FOUNDATION will present its 22nd annual "Christmas in the Patch" derrick and stars lighting ceremony Nov. 20 on the Winter Elder Stage at the World's Richest Acre Park. This event kicks off the Holiday Trail of Lights in Kilgore. The prelude at 6 p.m. will feature the KC Band, Twirlers and Drum Line. The program, featuring groups from Kilgore and Longview singing, dancing, and story telling, begins at 6:30. The derrick lights will be turned on by the three winners of the "Tis the Season" essay contest. The finale will feature all performers singing "White Christmas" with a special dance presentation by Alexis and Colby Johnston, greatgranddaughters of Winter Elder, for whom the stage at the park was named.

YOUNG AT HEART SENIOR ADULTS of First Baptist Church in Kilgore will meet in Fellowship Hall 11:45 a.m. Nov. 20. Four KC Friends of Music piano students will perform. All Friends of Music are invited to join the group for a covered-dish luncheon.

SATURDAY

WOMANLESS BEAUTY PAGEANT presented by the Senior Class of Sabine High School 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the SHS Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Proceeds benefit Project Graduation.

KILGORE BOY SCOUTS & CUB SCOUTS will be "Scouting for Food" to benefit Helping Hands and Kilgore Crisis Center. Scouts will put out sacks at residences on Nov. 15. Please fill them with non-perishable foods (canned and boxed) and place on your porch or curb in clear sight before 9 a.m. Nov. 22. SUNDAY

KILGORE MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE invites one and all to the annual Community Thanksgiving Service 6 p.m. Nov. 23 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Ingersoll, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will bring the message, with other pastors and community groups to participate. Offering will benefit Helping Hands of Kilgore. Refreshments and fellowship follow this special service.

ELBETHEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH #1 in Overton invites everyone to celebrate its 158th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 16. Guest minister will be the Rev. S.L. Curry; pastor is the Rev. Jarrett Polk.

KILGORE'S COMMUNITY HYMN SINGING is moving to the Willows Nursing and Rehabilitation home, 1901 Whippoorwill, for the November program. The event is scheduled at 3 p.m. Nov. 16. David Jones, director of church and denominational relations at East Texas Baptist University, will lead the singing. James Holder of Kilgore will be the accompanists. Refreshments will be provided by Ana-Lab Corp. and The Willows.
