Clergy supports same-sex marriage in Maine BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A group of religious leaders from across Maine is throwing its support behind same-sex marriage. The Rev. Mark Doty of Hammond Street Congregational Church in Bangor says it's time to raise voices on behalf of Mainers who're denied the right to marry "with the person of their choice." He says more than 120 religious leaders from 14 different faith traditions across Maine have formed the Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry in Maine. Not all religious leaders are on the same page. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, for example, opposes efforts to legalize same-sex marriage. As it stands, Maine law defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Information from: Bangor Daily News, http://www.bangornews.com
