KILGORE ROTARY CLUB will host a fish fry Nov. 8 in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are are on sale at the door or from any Rotarian. Meals can be eaten in or taken out. The menu includes fish, fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, tomato relish, pickles and a drink. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Scholarship Fund.

HEARING LOSS ASSN. OF AMERICA, Longview chapter, meets 10:30 a.m. Nov. 8 at Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church, 1115 S. Mobberly Ave. Founders' Day observance with history trivia fun and prizes. Visitors welcome.

THE GREGG COUNTY OFFICE OF TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE will hold a water well screening day for area residents on Monday, Nov. 17, at the Longview ffice, 405 E. Marshall. This program is designed to inform private water well owners and users on the condition of their water of possible contamination from common contaminants. To participate, a water sample bag and instructions must be obtained from the Extension office prior to Nov. 17. Cost is $5 per sample. For more information, call the Extension office at 903-236-8429. Water contaminated with feces have microorganisms that can cause a number of "waterborne" diseases such as cholera, typhoid and dysentery, and in extreme cases, death. Water wells should be tested
