Gohmert to speak at MLMS veterans ceremony Monday

U.S. Congressman Louie Gohmert will be the guest speaker for Maude Laird Middle School's Veterans Day program.

MLMS Principal Jody Sanders invites the public, especially veterans, to the program, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10.

"If anyone has a friend or family member who is a veteran, we would like to honor them for their service to our country," said Sanders.

Dana Sneed, MLMS history teacher, said veterans should arrive by 9 a.m. in order to be registered and divided into groups according to their branch of service.

Sneed said there will also be a slide show depicting family members of MLMS students and faculty who have served in the military.

"Students brought photos and information on their family members who served for the presentation," Sneed said.

A bagpiper and a special colonial color guard will participate this year, she said.

"The MLMS Student Council and the Jr. Historians work hard to put this presentation together, so come out and honor our nation's veterans," Sanders
