Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter celebrates Founders' Day
State Chaplain Sharon Noblit from Marshall presented the Founders' Day Observance. The Alpha Rho chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority of Women Educators' Oct. 13 meeting was held at Country Place Village. Hostesses were Glynette Ford, Sarah Garasic and Patricia Stubblefield.
Pat Horton presented an informational program on some of the newest styles in jewelry from Lia Sophia.
The meeting was called to order by Teresa Anderson, Alpha Rho president. Janet Rowden shared an inspirational thought.
Recording Secretary Regina Stansel called the roll. Members present were: Candy Gleghorn, Betty Fowler, Kathie Schatz, Janet Rowden, Teresa Anderson, Dee Turner, Bobbye Hearell, Yvonne Kennedy, Tabbatha Higginbotham, Sarah Garasic, Glynette Ford, Jennifer Utzman, Regina Stansel,and reinstating member Valerie Conner. Membership pledges attending: Beth Garrett, Periann Carter, and Regina Ward. Guests present were State Chaplain Sharon Noblit, Guest presenter Pat Horton, and Tayler Ward, Regina Ward's daughter.
Corresponding Secretary Sarah Garasic shared correspondence regarding disaster relief. The Fraternity Education Question of the Month is "What is an Honorary Member?" The Treasurer's Report was given by Glynette Ford.
Dee Turner, membership chairperson, presented the membership goals for 2008- 2009. Donna Mathis, Periann Carter, Beth Garrett and Regina Ward have completed their new-member paperwork.
As Altruistic Opportunities, members donated change for the American Heart Association. Members also made monetary donations for the Texas ADK Hurricane Relief Fund. The Alpha Rho ADK Month Project is the ADK Foundation.
The quilt raffle ticket process was discussed. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards the Alpha Rho ADK Scholarship.
The Fall District V Meeting report was given by Jennifer Utzman. The Spring 2009 District V meeting will be held in Kilgore with the Alpha Rho Chapter hosting. Sub-committees are in the process of being formed to continue to plan the event.
Prayer requests and Happy Dollar Moments were shared.
The Founders' Day Observance was conducted and coordinated by State Chaplain Sharon Noblit from Marshall.
The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 10, at Country Place Village. The program will be a silent auction for the Scholarship Fund and Teacher Finances. Hostesses will be Kathie Schatz, Debra Albertson, Jennifer Utzman and Dee Turner.
The meeting was adjourned by President Anderson with the members singing "The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa."
