THE KILGORE HIGH SCHOOL AG BOOSTER CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Ag Building.

TUESDAY

KILGORE MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE will meet at the Church of the Nazarene on Nov. 4 at noon. Lunch will be provided and all area pastors are encouraged to attend this meeting. Plans for the Community Thanksgiving Service will be discussed.

MEMBERS OF THE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP will meet Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Kilgore Public Library. The group meets monthly to discuss both fiction and non-fiction books. Newcomers are always welcome.

WEDNESDAY

KILGORE GARDEN CLUB meeting is set for Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. at the home of Kay Yates.

FRIDAY

TRUNK-OR-TREAT AT DANVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be held Oct. 31 from 5:30-8 p.m. Treats and activities for young and old will be provided. Collecting canned goods for Helping Hands during the evening. 2187 Danville Rd. off new loop or call 903-235-2356

KILGORE BAPTIST CHURCH will have installation services for the Rev. Paul E. Rodgers on Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. Special guest will be the Rev. Kevin Rodgers from Covenant Baptist Church of Dallas. The church is located at 1310 S. Commerce St., Kilgore. The public is invited to attend.

LEARN HANDS-ON SELF-DEFENSE IN A FREE CLASS OFFERED BY THE KILGORE PUBLIC LIBRARY. Taught by Mark Dickey, William Peoples and Mark Eaton, the workshop begins at 6 p.m. in the library's meeting room. Seating is limited; free tickets can be picked up at the library, 301 N. Henderson Blvd., during normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more info call 903-984-1520 or visit www.kplkids.org.

KILGORE COMMUNITY CRISIS CENTER is in desperate need of toiletries including soap, deodorant, shampoo, toilet tissue and Pampers. If you would like to make donation please call 903-984-3019.

THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF NORTHEAST TEXAS (LONGVIEW) is looking for volunteers to help at the animal shelter. Participants must be at least 18 years old and complete a volunteer application. For more information, contact Roxanne Hutson at 903- 297-2170.

16TH EAST TEXAS OILMAN'S CHILI COOKOFF will serve "Texas Red" concoctions cooked by more than 80 cooks on Nov. 6 to raise money for the East Texas Crisis Center in Kilgore. The public is invited to join the fun and tasting at the World's Richest Acre Park. Gates open around 10 a.m. and tasting begins around 11:30 a.m. Wristbands are available at the door for $5 each and will allow one person to sample all chilis and cast five votes in the People's Choice competition. Drinks are available for a donation to the Crisis Center. Cookoff T-shirts and aprons are $15. The Crisis Center offer programs for victims of family violence, sexual abuse and other violent crimes.

THE H.E.A.R.T. GROUP, a domestic sexual assault group for women, meets every Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at the Kilgore Community Crisis Center, 905 Broadway. The public is welcome to attend. For more information call 903-984-3019.
