THE RUSK COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CLUB will meet Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Democratic Headquarters on North Marshall in Henderson. The public is invited.

THE KILGORE MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE will meet at the Church of the Nazarene on Nov. 4 at noon. Lunch will be provided and all area pastors are encouraged to attend this meeting. Plans for the Community Thanksgiving Service will be discussed.

FRIDAY

TRUNK-OR-TREAT AT DANVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be held Oct. 31 from 5:30-8 p.m. Treats and activities for young and old will be provided. Collecting canned goods for Helping Hands during the evening. 2187 Danville Rd. off new loop or call 903-235- 2356

KILGORE CHURCH WOMEN will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 at First Baptist Church, 501 North St. E. in Kilgore. Lunch will be followed by an inspirational message from Rev. Charlotte Austin, pastor of Mc- Cary's Chapel United Methodist Church in Liberty City. Rev. Austin will also conduct the Installation of officers for 2009. A short business meeting will follow ending by 1 p.m. All women of the community and all area pastors are encouraged to attend. If possible, please bring sandwiches or other finger foods, salad, or dessert.

SATURDAY KIWANIS CLUB BBQ &

BAKE SALE will be held Oct. 25 from 10-noon. BBQ drivethru pick up in parking lot of St. Luke's United Methodist Church 401 E. Main, Kilgore.

SOUTH MAIN CHURCH OF CHRIST in Henderson will host Vocal Union of Nashville in concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Opening for the group is PARADIGM, a local group of up and coming young adult singers. Vocal Union has traveled extensively, including performances at Carnegie Hall and the White House. The church is located at 402 S. Main St.

THE 4TH ANNUAL KIWANIS OILPATCH BREAKFAST CLUB will be holding their Drive-Thru Barbecue at St. Luke's United Methodist Church this Oct. 25, 2008 from 11 a.m. - 1p.m. The church is located a 401 E. Main All proceeds benefit youth projects. For more information call 903-988-4109.

DEACON ORDINATION SERVICES will be held Oct. 26 at Kilgore Missionary Baptist Church. Lunch fwill follow the 10:45 morning worship service, then Deacon Ordination of Charlie Lear and David Higginbotham to be held at 1:30 p.m.

HOLY PRAYER APOSTOLIC CHURCH will host a benefit musical at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Kilgore Community Center to help Patronia Walker pay expenses for a needed surgery. The center is located on MLK Avenue across from Victory Funeral Home. Patronia's mother, Pastor Ella Mae Walker, invites choirs, soloists, praise dancers and singing groups to help make this program a success spiritually and financially. THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF NORTHEAST TEXAS (LONGVIEW) is looking for volunteers to help at the animal shelter. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and complete a volunteer application. For more information, contact Roxanne Hutson at 903-297-2170.

THE 16TH ANNUAL EAST TEXAS OILMAN'S CHILI COOK-OFF is scheduled for November 6. Proceeds go to the Kilgore Community Crisis Center.
