KIBA OCTOBER AWARDS
     The Kilgore Improvement and Beautification Association gave out their awards for the month of October and these are the winners (photos, top to bottom) The Yard of the Month was awarded to Robert and Tammy Welch who live at 3315 Stonehaven. The Commercial Beauty Spot was awarded to the KFC/Taco Bell located on Hwy. 259. The final award went to Dr. Brian and Suzanne Nutt who live at 2812 Green Hills Dr. for the Beauty Spot. If anyone wished to nominate someone for any of these honors, please contact Lavada Thomas at (903) 984-5445, Ruby Dodgen at (903) 984-2246 or Kim Gore at (903) 984-6433. KIBA wants everyon to enjoy these beautifully landscaped lcoations, so feel free to drive by each and enjoy.

Getting spooky out at Clements' barn
      Sue and Johnny Clements' barn has become one of Kilgore's most popular entertainment centers for young and old. The barn, barnyard, home and entryway are decorated for fall and Halloween events so recently a group of friends gathered to partake in a Wii game party followed by a luncheon of pumpkin soup, sandwiches and a few spooky delights.

Evergreen Garden Club learn the art of wreath making
      Members of the Evergreen Garden Club learned about "crepe myrtle murder" and wreath making during their Oct. 2 meeting held at The Greenery's new location in downtown Kilgore. President Judy Geddie welcomed members and thanked Donna Shupe of The Greenery for allowing the club to use the new facilities.

      Kellie Carter and Jeremy Jordan of Houston were joined in marriage on Oct. 4, 2008, at Castle on the Lake in Jacksonville. The Rev. Rick Sitton of Lumberton officiated. Kellie is the daughter of Allen and Denise Carter of Tyler.

Kilgore Garden Club vitist Shakespeare Garden
      Kilgore Garden Club members heard about and later visited the beautiful Shakespeare Garden during their Oct. 2 meeting, held in the home of Carroll Bolton. Co-hostesses were Dolores Meyers and Martha Lee. Refreshments were served from a beautifully decorated table in the fall colors.

      East Texas Christian School's Tiffany Boren has been named Commended Student in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior.

Cunyus to represent KHS at Yamboree
      Callie Jo Cunyus will represent Kilgore High School at the coronation of the East Texas Yamboree's Queen Yam LXXI Stephanie Lynn Henson. The coronation will be presented in performances at the Gilmer Civic Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, and Thursday, Oct. 16.
