KHS wins; in second in district
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
The Kilgore High School volleyball team is somewhere after five district games that they haven't been in a long, long time: second place in district play. KHS defeated Lindale in four games Friday afternoon, 25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 25-17. The Lady Bulldogs, now 3-2 in District 14-4A, are right behind Whitehouse and securely in second place with five games left in the regular season. KHS hosts Jacksonville Tuesday, beginning with freshmen at 5 p.m., and that's senior night. For KHS against Lindale, Sarah Morris had nine kills, six blocks and three aces. Kathryn McIntyre had six kills and an ace. Kelsey Jackson had eight kills, a block and an ace. Raven Wiley had seven kills, three blocks and three aces. Andrea Ashley had a kill and six blocks, and coach Lacy Thompson said Alyssa Phillips had several good passes from the back row. Alex Phillips did a nice job filling in for injured Haylee Wright, Thompson said, and the coach complimented China Hughes and Lesta Eaton on several sets that resulted in kills. Eaton also had an ace. The freshmen lost, 16-25, 27-25, 18-25, and the junior varsity lost as well, 16-25, 18- 25.
