Lions Club Annual Halloween Carnival on new night Kilgore Lions Club members are doing things a little different for their annual Halloween Carnival — this year it will be on Nov. 1 instead of Oct. 31. That is the only change, however, and the affair will still offer all of the great activities for young and old at heart. Lion Randy Renshaw said the carnival will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Lions Building at 307 N. Rusk St. This year there will be a "ham and turkey bingo" that will be something good to take home to eat, plus there will be a food booth with Lion Travis Martin doing the cooking so there will be good food to eat right there. Renshaw said there will be lots of games for the kids and the popular cake walk, with sweets to be had. During the carnival the Lions will have a raffle, and tickets are available now through any Lions member or at the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $1 apiece or 6 for $5, and the prize list is a good one. First prize will be a Remington .270 Camo Rifle or Mossberg 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun donated by Basin Remodeling and Gabriel Jordan Pontiac-Buick-GMC. Second prize is a 22-inch Sylvania LCD HD television donated by Pat McCrory, Carol French and Randy Renshaw. Third prize is a $200 gift certificate to a Kilgore merchant of your choice, donated by Kilgore National Bank. Fourth prize is a $150 gift certificate to Wal-Mart donated by the Oubre family in the memory of Jim Oubre. Fifth prize is a $150 gift card to a Kilgore merchant of your choice, donated by Austin Bank. Sixth prize is a digital camera donated by Sonny Spradlin and Bob Bustin. Tickets can be purchased at the carnival prior to the drawing or in advance from a Lion. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win, said Renshaw.
